His offensive value to a team that sometimes struggles to
score runs can't be overstated. His on-base percentage the past
two seasons -- .385 and .379 -- place him in the top 10 in
baseball.

Cleveland Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco was placed on the
15-day disabled list after straining his left hamstring on a
play at first base Sunday at Comerica Park.
Carrasco was injured covering first base in the third inning. He
recorded the out, but fell to the ground in pain and had to be
helped off the field.

The Office of the Commissioner of Baseball announced two minor
league players have been suspended following their violations of
the minor league drug prevention and treatment program.
Free agent right-handed pitcher Brent Jones received a 50-game
suspension without pay following a second positive test. San
Francisco Giants minor league shortstop Travious Relaford
received a 100-game suspension without pay following a third
