White Sox 4, Blue Jays 0
Dioner Navarro drove in the first runs of the game with a two-run
triple in the seventh and Jose Quintana struck out 10 as the Chicago
White Sox defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-0 Wednesday to complete a
three-game series sweep.
It was the sixth win in a row for the White Sox (16-6) and the third
straight loss for the Blue Jays (10-13).
Orioles 3, Rays 1
Joey Rickard hit a three-run home run, and Chris Tillman threw 6 2/3
scoreless innings, leading Baltimore to a victory over Tampa Bay at
Tropicana Field.
The Orioles won the finale of a three-game series and ended a
three-game skid while snapping the Rays' three-game winning streak.

Mets 5, Reds 2
Neil Walker continued his torrid April by homering and finishing
with two RBIs as New York completed a three-game sweep of Cincinnati
with a win at Citi Field.
The Mets have won six straight and 11 of 13. The Reds have lost four
in a row and 12 of 16.
Phillies 3, Nationals
Starter Jeremy Hellickson pitched seven innings of shutout ball and
gave up just two hits and Darin Ruf drove in a run to break a
scoreless tie in the sixth inning as Philadelphia shut out
Washington.
Carlos Ruiz gave the Phillies some insurance in the eighth when he
clubbed a two-out solo homer to left off reliever Sammy Solis to
make it 3-0. It was just the 13th homer allowed this year by
Washington, which has hit 23 of its own.
Red Sox 9, Braves 4
Steven Wright, added to the rotation at the start of the season
because of an injury to Eduardo Rodriguez, turned in his fourth
straight quality start.
Backed by two Dustin Pedroia homers, one a grand slam, and three
doubles by David Ortiz, Wright helped Boston to a victory over
Atlanta. It was the Red Sox's third straight win over the hapless
Braves in two locations this week and fourth victory in a row
overall.
Giants 13, Padres 9
San Francisco took advantage of a San Diego fielding error to score
three runs in the first inning and continued to pound out hits in a
win over the Padres.
Brandon Belt was 3-for-4 with five RBIs and Hunter Pence went
3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Tigers 9, Athletics 4
J.D. Martinez and Victor Martinez each blasted three-run homers,
powering Detroit to a win over Oakland at Comerica Park.
Moved to the No. 2 spot in the order for the first time in his
career, J.D. Martinez had two hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly while
driving in four runs. Victor Martinez reached base four times.
Winning pitcher Justin Verlander (2-2) gave up three runs and five
hits with six strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.
 Rangers 3, Yankees 2
Shortstop Elvis Andrus' two-out triple in the sixth scored second
baseman Rougned Odor with the go-ahead run in the Texas Rangers' 3-2
victory over the New York Yankees on Wednesday.
The victory made a winner out of left-hander Martin Perez (1-2) for
the first time this season.
Cubs-Brewers postponed
Chicago ace Jake Arrieta and Milwaukee right-hander Taylor Jungmann
got an unexpected night off as cold weather and the likelihood of
rain prompted officials to postpone the second game in a scheduled
three-game series at Wrigley Field.
Arrieta and Jungmann will instead face off Thursday afternoon. No
makeup date was announced.

Indians 6, Twins 5
Carlos Santana had three hits and Francisco Lindor knocked in three
runs to lead the Cleveland Indians to a 6-5 win over the Minnesota
Twins on Wednesday night at Target Field.
The Indians overcame an early three-run deficit in the major league
debut for Twins pitcher Jose Berrios. One of the sport's top
pitching prospects, Berrios (0-1) allowed five runs on six hits and
a pair of walks in four-plus innings.
Angels 4, Royals 2
Yunel Escobar's home run in the sixth inning snapped a 2-2 tie and
helped lift the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-2 win over the Kansas City
Royals on Wednesday at Angel Stadium, completing a three-game sweep
of the defending World Series champions.
The Angels lost nine of their previous 10 games against the Royals
prior to the series -- six of seven during the regular season last
year and all three in the American League Division Series in the
2014 playoffs.
Marlins 2, Dodgers 0
Justin Nicolino did something no Miami Marlins starter has
accomplished all season -- get an out in the bottom of the eighth.
Nicolino's 7 1/3 scoreless innings Wednesday night led Miami to a
2-0 shutout of the Los Angeles Dodgers, giving the Marlins their
first series win in Dodger Stadium since 2010.

Cardinals 11, Diamondbacks 4
St. Louis shortstop Aledmys Diaz had two hits and a homer and
right-hander Adam Wainwright's bases-loaded triple keyed a five-run
sixth inning in the Cardinals' 11-4 victory over the Arizona
Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Wednesday.
Stephen Piscotty had four hits and two RBIs and Matt Carpenter and
Matt Holliday had two RBIs apiece to help Wainwright (1-3) to his
first victory since April 29, 2015. He missed five months with a
ruptured right Achilles last season.
Astros 7, Mariners 4
Jose Altuve had three hits, two RBIs and three runs to lead the
Houston Astros past Seattle 7-4 Wednesday night, ending the
Mariners' three-game winning streak.
Altuve led off the game with a home run as the Astros (7-15) avoided
the series sweep behind nine hits and a workmanlike performance from
starting pitcher Collin McHugh.
Pirates 9, Rockies 8 (12 innings)
The Pittsburgh Pirates blew an early seven-run lead but salvaged a
9-8 win over the Colorado Rockies in 12 innings Wednesday night on
Jordy Mercer's two-out double.
The hit came off Carlos Estevez (0-1), who made his third appearance
in the majors and was working his second inning. With one out, he
walked Gregory Polanco. After Matt Joyce flied out, Mercer doubled
to deep right-center.
