Aug 5 (The Sports Xchange) - New England Patriots quarterback Tom
Brady is trying to move on from Deflategate, calling it a "personal
decision" to accept his four-game suspension.
Brady talked to reporters Friday for the first time since deciding
not to pursue further legal options in his fight with the NFL.
"I've just tried to move on from it," Brady said Friday after
practice. "I'll be excited to be back when I'm back, and I'll be
cheering our team, and hopefully we'll go out and win every game."
Brady decided to drop his legal fight last month - two days after
the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied an appeal to rehear his
four-game suspension case.
Brady was asked about making the difficult decision to end the legal
fight.
"I think it's just personal. I've tried to move on from it," Brady
told reporters. "I try to just focus on the positive, being here
with my teammates and getting better. You don't want to go out and
do anything but try to be a great example for your teammates."

The Kansas City Chiefs officially signed quarterback Nick Foles and
he then joined his new team at practice.
After being released last week by the Los Angeles Rams, Foles
elected to accept a one-year contract offer from the Chiefs,
rejoining his coach from his rookie year in Philadelphia, Andy Reid.
Published reports said the deal is for $1.7 million in the 2016
season with incentives available. There is a club option for 2017,
based on incentives achieved in the coming season.
Foles, 27, will be the backup to starter Alex Smith.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is not expected to play
in Sunday night's preseason game on the weekend Brett Favre
headlines the Pro Football Hall of Fame class in Canton, Ohio.
Rodgers, who succeeded Favre in Green Bay, did not practice with the
Packers on Thursday night and is unlikely to play in the team's
first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, which kicks off
the NFL's preseason schedule.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has not officially said whether
Rodgers, a two-time NFL MVP, will sit out the game.
According to ESPN, the Packers are likely to play the game with two
undrafted rookie free-agent quarterbacks: Joe Callahan and Marquise
Williams.

Former NFL
and Wisconsin running back Montee Ball was sentenced to 60 days in
jail after pleading guilty to two charges of disorderly conduct and
one charge of battery for his role in two domestic abuse cases.
Ball, 25, received the sentence as part of a plea agreement with
prosecutors. Ball was placed on 18 months probation.
Ball rushed for 5,140 yards and 77 touchdowns at Wisconsin from
2009-12. He was a second-round pick by the Denver Broncos but was
cut after two seasons. Ball signed with the New England Patriots
last December and was placed on the practice squad. He was released
in February.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed defensive end George Johnson on
season-ending injured reserve due to a hip injury.
The 28-year-old Johnson suffered a hip fracture during practice
Thursday, according to ESPN.
Doctors are still assessing if there is any tissue damage and an
ESPN source said that it looks as though Johnson won't need surgery,
with the best-case scenario being 16 weeks of recovery.
Tampa Bay signed defensive end Martin Ifedi to take Johnson's place
on the 90-man roster. (Editing by Larry Fine)
