Babos, who is ranked 44th, did not face a break point against
in the first set, but she was broken three times in the second
set and three more times in the third.
Begu, ranked 31st, trailed 2-0 in the deciding set but won six
of the next seven games to close out the match.
"It was a difficult final emotionally, especially as I felt I
had it in my hands, then only at the end I realize I've lost,"
Babos said. "Of course I was playing against a very good player
-- she was fighting all the way -- but I thought that I was
playing better and I had many, many, many opportunities, so
obviously I'm sad to lose this final."
The result provides Begu with a positive sendoff for her trip to
Rio, where she will compete in the Olympic tennis event.
