[August 10, 2016]  Aug 10 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Tuesday's Major League Baseball games.

Indians 3, Nationals 1

Trevor Bauer bounced back from the worst outing of his career to pitch into the seventh inning, Jose Ramirez drove in two runs with two hits and the Cleveland Indians defeated the Washington Nationals 3-1.

Bauer (8-5) pitched 6 1/3 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and two walks while striking out four. Cleveland bench coach Brad Mills managed the team after Terry Francona was taken ill before the game.

The Indians said Francona, who expressed discomfort during his pre-game media session, was examined by a ballpark EMT and remained at Nationals Park.

Red Sox 5, Yankees 3

Dustin Pedroia ended a slump with two doubles and three RBIs, Andrew Benintendi stroked three hits in his Fenway Park debut and Rick Porcello tied for the major league lead with his 15th victory as Boston hung on to defeat New York.

Boston closer Craig Kimbrel walked four, including the last three batters he faced, and threw 37 pitches with a three-run lead before Matt Barnes came on and caught Mark Teixeira looking at a 2-2 pitch for his first save.

Cubs 5, Angels 1

John Lackey allowed three hits in eight innings, and Willson Contreras and Kris Bryant each added solo home runs as Chicago beat Los Angeles in the series opener for its eighth straight win.

Lackey (9-7) surrendered a first-inning home run and little else while walking one and striking out six in his fourth eight-inning effort of the season.

Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-3 and scored twice and Jorge Soler had two hits in his fourth consecutive start since coming off the disabled list.

Marlins 2, Giants 0

Tom Koehler pitched seven scoreless innings to lead Miami over San Francisco.

Giancarlo Stanton had the go-ahead RBI with a first-inning double that shattered his bat in half.

Diamondbacks 5, Mets 3

Michael Bourn delivered a go-ahead two-run triple in the seventh inning as Arizona beat New York.

A two-run homer by Neil Walker gave the Mets a 3-2 lead in the sixth and left Zack Greinke in line for the loss, but the Diamondbacks scored three times in the seventh with two outs against Hansel Robles (5-4).

Rays 9, Blue Jays 2

Evan Longoria had three RBIs, Logan Forsythe added a homer and two RBIs, Drew Smyly pitched six effective innings and Tampa Bay defeated Toronto.

Smyly (4-11) allowed six hits, three walks and two runs while striking out two in six innings for his second straight win.

Pirates 6, Padres 4

Gregory Polanco hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fifth inning and Pittsburgh turned two misplays by the San Diego infield into four runs.

Chad Kuhl (2-0) overcame a two-run Padres first -- this one aided by a defensive mistake, as well -- while pitching effectively for six innings to get the win.

Reds 7, Cardinals 4

Billy Hamilton reached base four times, stealing three bases and scoring three runs as Cincinnati beat St Louis.

Hamilton walked to lead off the seventh inning, swiped second, moved to third on a lineout and scored on Joey Votto's single up the middle to snap a 3-3 tie.

White Sox 7, Royals 5 (10 innings)

Todd Frazier belted a three-run homer in the 10th inning to propel Chicago over Kansas City.

The Royals tied it in the ninth off closer David Robertson, who yielded a leadoff single to Kendrys Morales. Jarrod Dyson ran for Morales and stole second and scored on Alcides Escobar's two-out single.

Frazier untied it in the 10th by lining a first pitch offering from Kelvin Herrera over the left-field fence with Jose Abreu and Carlos Sanchez aboard for his 31st home run of the season, which is tied for the American League lead.

Astros 7, Twins 5

Jose Altuve had four hits and Carlos Correa homered for Houston over Minnesota.

For Altuve, the American League's leading hitter, it was the seventh time this season he's had four hits in a game. He also scored twice and knocked in a run as Houston won for just second time in its last eight games.

Rangers 7, Rockies 5

Texas won its fourth straight game, scoring four times in the eighth inning with Elvis Andrus driving in the go-ahead run with a two-out single against Colorado.

The loss was the third straight and fifth in six games for the Rockies, who concluded a 3-5 homestand. The Rangers ended a 5-3 road trip and head home, where they are 34-17 and will play 30 of their final 48 games.

Braves 2, Brewers 1

Tyrell Jenkins allowed just one run over six solid innings, and Nick Markakis and Adonis Garcia hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the seventh inning to lead Atlanta past Milwaukee.

Jenkins scattered three hits and a walk while striking out three.

A's 2, Orioles 1

Rookie Zach Neal allowed one run over 5 1/3 innings in his second career major league start and Oakland defeated Baltimore.

Neal (2-1) gave up two hits, struck out one, walked none and threw just 72 pitches.

Dodgers 9, Phillies 3

Howie Kendrick, Yasmani Grandal and Justin Turner homered, and the Los Angeles Dodgers pulled into a first-place tie atop the National League West after a 9-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium.

The Dodgers (64-49) won their fourth straight to match the San Francisco Giants for the division lead. The Phillies (52-63) lost for the third time in four games.

Mariners 6, Tigers 5 (15 innings)

Kyle Seager delivered score-tying hits in the eighth and 15th innings before Seattle team mate Mike Zunino drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the 15th as the Mariners rallied to beat the Detroit Tigers 6-5.

Seager's three-run homer in the eighth inning tied the score 4-4 and he added a one-out, RBI single in the bottom of the 15th, deadlocking the game at 5-5.

An error by Detroit left fielder Justin Upton allowed base runner Adam Lind to move to third and he then scored easily on Zunino's fly ball to center. (Editing by John O'Brien)
