60th Anniversary Open

On Wednesday, August 31st, Carl and
Marian "Mickey" Hobbs of Emden will celebrate their 60th wedding
anniversary. An open house is planned for Sunday, August 28th at the
Stag-R-Inn in Emden from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Family and friends are
invited to attend. The couple requests no gifts, please.

Carl Hobbs and Marian Funk were united in marriage August 31, 1956,
at the Zion United Methodist Church in Emden.
The couple raised five children; Mary Beth (Donnie-deceased) Jackson
of Lincoln, Mindy (Brad) Halverson of Peoria, Marian (Dennis) Eimer
of Lincoln, Doug Hobbs of Emden, and Michelle Hobbs of Lincoln.

They enjoy their nine children and with ten great-grandchildren,
they are looking forward to number 11 in January of 2017.
Carl graduated from Hartsburg-Emden High School and attended Lincoln
College. He worked for Stetson China Company and also Lehn and Fink
before going to work for the Illinois Dep[endent Oil Company. After
31 years, he retired from Illico in 2000.
Mickey graduated from Lincoln Community High School and went to work
at the switchboard for the Lincoln Telephone Company and worked for
the State of Illinois until 1956. She was a bookkeeper and Secretary
for Hobbs Oil until Carl retired.
