Arriving at the banquet center guests were welcomed by two
greeters, who quickly went through what was being offered for the
day. There was a front table set up where everyone was permitted to
register for some door prizes, and those wishing to receive a coat
also registered.
The first 250 or so children to arrive were able to select a new
winter coat, through the generosity of membership of St. John’s
United Church of Christ. Volunteers and CAPCIL board members worked
to help children and parents pick out the right size and get the
coats given out as quickly as possible. The church had also
collected scarves, hats, and gloves. Those were also distributed as
long as supplies lasted.
Santa was on hand with the first 200 kids getting a free photo of
themselves on the lap of the man in the red suit. The visit with
Santa was supported by the Lincoln Kiwanis as were the free photos.

Throughout the room, fun activities were set up
for children including crafts and games. Books
handed out by Santa were provided through the Lincoln Rotary and the
Lincoln Elks also contributed to the success of the day.
The event included a complete meal served by volunteers and
members of the Lincoln Kiwanis. The meal was donated to CAPCIL
by an anonymous donor.
