The Lincoln/Logan County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winner of the first Shop Logan County Contest. Participants were to collect stamps from a variety of businesses throughout the area. When all the stamps were collected, the booklet containing the stamps was returned to the Chamber office where it went into a drawing for a $500 cash prize. Chamber President Cathy Wilhite said last week that she felt the shop local campaign went well for the first year, and is hopeful that it will grow in popularity in the future.

The Cronin Brothers VFW in Lincoln has a very special flag adorning the entryway to Freedom Hall. The wood flag is the craftsmanship of 17-year old Jacob Stauffer. Jacob is the son of veteran and VFW member Bill Stauffer. Last week his dad explained that Jacob had made a few of the flags, and decided it was time to make one for the VFW. The flag is all wood, with individual pieces making up the 13 red and white stripes. The body of stars in the upper corner are comprised of spent bullet casings, a very fitting tribute to an organization whose membership are veterans who served overseas in foreign wars.
