The Hartem Stags traveled back to the Marseilles Holiday
Tournament Wednesday for a bit of a reunion of sorts. The Stags took on
Putnam County, who is coached by Josh Nauman. Nauman used to teach and
coach at Hartem. Nauman, in fact, coached current Stags coach Jason
Garber his senior year in high school.

Coach Garber commented, “It was like a little reunion. It was
great to see Coach Nauman again. My assistant coach, Dakin Bolen,
had him for all four years in high school and I had him my senior
year. Coach Bolen and myself have a lot of respect for Coach Nauman.”
On the court it was the Stags handing Coach Nauman’s team a 48-45
loss.
Alec Hayes was the player of the game as he guided the Stags to the
win with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Brady Wolpert scored 10 points
for the Stags.
This time it was the Stags escaping with the victory as the Panthers
missed a three to tie the game at the end.
Hartem (6-5) will play Dwight tonight at 5 p.m. for the fifth place
game as the tournament concludes.
