LINCOLN
- Fifth grade students in Logan County are no strangers to taking
pictures of themselves with Smartphones, known as “selfies”. This year’s
Wellness Expo planners decided that it is time to celebrate the
phenomenon by inviting Logan County 5th graders to show the community
how they stay healthy by taking a “Healthy Selfie”.

Each year, a 5th grade Wellness Expo (previously known as the health
fair) is held at the Lincoln Park District. The students complete a
heart obstacle course, visit with vendors, and exercise. This year
planners are inviting all Logan County 5th grade students to take a
picture of themselves exhibiting how they stay healthy.
Entrants are encouraged to find selfie-inspiration from
www.logancounty5210.org which promotes the 5-2-1-0 obesity
prevention daily guidelines of 5 fruits/vegetables, no more than 2
hours of recreational screen time, at least 1 hour of physical
activity and 0 sugar-sweetened beverages.
First, second and third place overall winners will be announced at
the 5th grade Wellness Expo on Friday, February 19. The first place
winner will enjoy a 2016 family pool pass at the Lincoln Park
District, valued at $200. The second place winner will receive a
bowling party for 30 people at Logan Lanes, valued at $180. The
third place winner will host an indoor pool party for 50 at Lincoln
College, valued at $150.
All entries will be showcased at the public Wellness Expo on
Saturday, February 20, 2016 being held from 9am-1pm at the Lincoln
Park District. And all entries will also be featured in a 5-2-1-0
promotional video shown before movies at the Lincoln Grand 8 in the
spring.
