On
Tuesday, Illinois State Representative Tim Butler
dropped in to visit with students at Lincoln Junior
High School. He visited with the 7th grade boys
basketball team and also visited with teacher Sue
O'Hara's 7th grade history class.
In the classroom, he answered questions including,
has he ever been a guest at the White House. Butler
said that he had visited the White House. In fact,
he said on the day he was there the Chicago Bulls
were also visiting. So, in addition to meeting with
the President, he also had the opportunity to shoot
some hoops with his home-state team.

On Wednesday, President
Barrack Obama, a Democrat who calls Illinois home, paid a
visit to Springfield. It was nine years ago that in a
similar visit, he announced that he would be running for
President of the United States. This year, as his second
term comes to an end and his tenure as the president will be
over, Obama visited the State Capitol addressing legislators
and encouraging them to put aside partisan divisions and
work together for the betterment of the state. During his
visit, the President also addressed a group at the Hoagland
Center for the Arts. Logan County Democrat Rebecca Drake was
honored to be a part of that invitation-only meeting with
the President. As a member of the audience, she snapped a
photo of the president during his talk.
