Burfict recently had his case heard by NFL appeals office Derrick
Brooks, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers standout and Hall of Famer.
The suspension was handed down by commissioner Roger Goodell for the
first three games of the 2016 regular season due to repeated
violation of safety-related playing rules.
The disciplinary actions came after Burfict's questionable behavior
during a playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most notable
was a blow to the head of receiver Antonio Brown that resulted in a
concussion.

Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy is unlikely to learn of
official charges against him on Thursday related to being accused of
aggravated assault stemming from a weekend fight at a Philadelphia
nightclub.
According to reports on Wednesday, an arrest warrant could be issued
for McCoy, whose attorney told ESPN that his client would surrender
to police if charged in the case. Police have recommended that one
of the charges be aggravated assault.
McCoy and a group of men are accused of punching, kicking and
stomping on an off-duty Philadelphia police officer after one of
them took a bottle of champagne out of the officer's hand and a
fight transpired.

The New York Giants hired Martin Mayhew as director of football
operations/special projects, the club announced.
Mayhew will work closely with assistant general manager Kevin Abrams
on the salary cap, collective bargaining compliance and player
contract negotiations. He will also handle special projects assigned
by general manager Jerry Reese.

Mayhew replaces Matt Harriss, who recently departed to become vice
president of football administration for the Detroit Lions.

Former NFL wide receiver Josh Morgan reportedly shot himself in the
leg recently while cleaning a gun.
The gun accidently discharged while Morgan was handling it on Jan.
31 in his home in Leesburg, Va.
Morgan, 30, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was
transported to a nearby hospital.

The Indianapolis Colts announced two more changes to their coaching
staff.
Tim Berbenich was named offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks
coach and Jim Hostler was named the tight ends coach.
