- On February 20, the Logan County Department of Public Health,
Lincoln Park District, and the Healthy Communities Partnership are
excited to invite the public to the free Wellness Expo on Saturday,
February 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lincoln Park District.
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital will be on-site providing a variety of
services including free health screenings.

“We recognize that our responsibilities to keep the community
healthy extend outside the wall of the hospital,” said Lori England,
laboratory manager at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. “We are
proud to offer free cholesterol and blood sugar screenings at this
year’s Wellness Expo event.”
The American Heart Association recognizes that cholesterol plays a
major role in a person’s heart health. High blood cholesterol is a
major risk factor for coronary heart disease and stroke. The AHA
recommends that individuals over 20 should have cholesterol checked
every four to six years and more often if you are at an elevated
risk.
“The screenings will be done on-site with a finger prick with
results within 10 minutes and will provide a complete lipid profile
and a blood sugar count. For the most accurate results, individuals
should fast for 8-10 hours prior to the test.”
