LINCOLN
- On Friday night, the Land of Lincoln CEO program held a special
dinner and trivia contest at Lincoln Christian University. The
evening was the first of two comprising the Honest Abe Weekend
event.

The LLCEO program provides a curriculum to high school students
who want to learn how to start and operate a small business.
Jim Grimaldi was the emcee for the night. Teams of guests answered
trivia questions in five categories; current politics, the city of
Lincoln, the state of Illinois, the Civil War, and Abraham Lincoln.
The night began with a reading of the Gettysburg Address. As the
night went on, guests were encouraged to participate in a silent
auction of items donated by the public. There was also an
opportunity to get a photograph taken with Abraham Lincoln and Mary
Todd.

Cheryl Mitchell, the interim executive director of Midland Institute, was a
guest at the event. The Midland Institute is the organization that helped bring
the LLCEO program to the area. Mitchell said that currently there are thirty
classes in four states, and that originally the goal was to only have five
classes for last year.
Mitchell led everyone present in a round of applause for the eleven students
currently in the program in Lincoln that put the Honest Abe Weekend events
together.
