 The state average corn yield was 175 bushels per acre, compared
to the 200 bushel average of the 2014 season. The 2015 yield
averages were Logan with 172.8 bushels per acre, Menard with
188.2, and Sangamon with 183.5. By comparison, last year Logan
County averaged 230.8 bushels per acre and Sangamon County
averaged 226.8. Menard County had an average yield of 222.7. The
2014 yields were records for all three counties.
Top corn yield counties were Piatt with 220.5 bushels per acre
average, Stark at 210.9, Douglas 209.1, DeWitt at 207.8, and
Macon yielding 207.5. McLean had the top county production for
corn with 63,148,000 bushels for the county. Production in Logan
County was 33,602,000, Menard had 15,056,000 bushels, and
Sangamon had 41,844,000 bushels produced.
The new 10 year average yields are 177.13 for Logan and 180.6
for Sangamon. Menard County won’t have a history for a while, as
they didn’t have enough respondents to the 2013 survey. This led
to Menard County yields being combined with other counties with
a similar situation.
The state soybean average yield was 56 bushels to the acre,
equaling the 2014 state yield average. Top counties were Piatt
at 73.1, Macon yielding 67.4 bushels per acre, Douglas at 67,
Moultrie with 64.8, and McLean with 64.6. Logan County has an
average yield of 56.6, compared to last year’s record of 63.7.
Menard County was 60 bushel average, compared to last year’s
record of 60.2. The Sangamon County yield was 60.7, also shy of
the 2014 record yield of 63. Logan County production was
7,955,000 bushels, Sangamon County had production of 9,185,000,
and Menard had 3,680,000 bushels produced. McLean County again
led the state in production with 19,341,000 bushels. The new 10
year average yield for soybeans is 53.92 in Logan County and
56.02 in Sangamon County.
