Obituary
William Henry Roland, 92, of Lincoln passed away on
February 16, 2016 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
William was born December 24, 1923 at Brown County,
Versailles, IL, the son of Charles Lee and Laura
Lawrence Roland. He married Jean Rothermel in Pike
County, IL. She preceded him in death February 19,
2002. He then married Viola Horyna, December 2002 in
La Crosse, KS, who also preceded him in death.
William is survived by his children: Mary Esther
Boonaerts of Genk, Belgium; Charles William (Mary)
Roland of Baltimore, MD; David L. (Glenda) Roland of
Beason, IL; and Paul Sterling (Helen) Roland of
Miami, FL; eight grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
parents; two wives; two brothers and one sister.

William was a missionary minister for the Christian
Church in India. He enjoyed being a preacher and
missionary; Jesus was his life. He was a farmer at
heart and raised cattle and chickens. He was a
member of Lincoln Christian Church.
Services for William will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday,
February 23, 2016 at the Christian Village
Congregate building, 1500 7th St., Lincoln with Ryan
Edgecombe officiating. Visitation will be one hour
(9:30-10:30) prior to the service at the congregate
building. Graveside services will be held at 3:00
p.m., Feb. 23 at Payson New Cemetery, 401 Washington
St., Payson, IL.
Memorials may be given in William’s name to the
Christian Village Congregate or Lincoln Christian
Church. Services were entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
