[February 22, 2016]  Feb 21 (The Sports Xchange) - The Atlanta Falcons are expected to part ways with starting defensive tackle Paul Soliai, according to multiple reports.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported the Falcons will cut Soliai after the sides could not agree on a contract restructure to lower his salary for 2016.

Soliai's agent, David Canter, told ESPN.com that after "positive conversation" with the Falcons this weekend regarding a pay cut, the two sides could not agree to terms.

Canter said the team plans to release Soliai on March 9 when the new league year begins. It will be designated a post-June 1 cut, meaning the Falcons will save $5,437,500 against the 2016 cap as opposed to $2,637,500 by just releasing him now, according to ESPN.

Quarterback Connor Cook said his right shoulder feels back to 100 percent strength following a November injury that caused him to miss one game and play with a supportive brace when he returned to the field.

The former Michigan State star has been working with noted quarterbacks coach Georgia Whitfield in California and will travel to Indianapolis this week for the annual Scouting Combine. In addition to agility tests and positional drills, Cook can expect a thorough evaluation of his right shoulder during the rigorous medical checks that are often of the most interest to NFL teams.

Cook declined an invitation to last month's Senior Bowl, opting to stay in California and train with Whitfield and make sure his arm was back to full strength in time for the Combine and his pro day.

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle has been arrested for the fifth time in the past 17 months.

Randle, 24, was arrested in Wichita, Kan., on three counts of aggravated battery, one count of drug possession and one count of criminal damage to property, according to Sedgwick County court records.

Randle, a Wichita, native, was arrested just after 8 a.m. Sunday. He was being held on $100,000 bond.

The Cowboys released Randle in early November reportedly due in part to his involvement in sports gambling. Randle has denied the allegation. (Editing by Andrew Both)
