WASHINGTON -- Alex Galchenyuk scored
twice, Mike Condon made 33 saves, and the Montreal Canadiens built a 3-0
lead before holding on for a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals on
Wednesday night.

Brendan Gallagher and Tomas Fleischmann also scored for Montreal.
The Canadiens led 4-1 after two periods, but Washington's Dmitri
Orlov scored with 7:35 left and Andre Burakovsky beat Condon from
the slot with 2:53 remaining. Washington pulled goalie Philipp
Grubauer with 1:40 left, but couldn't get another puck past Condon.
Bruins 5, Penguins 1
BOSTON -- David Pastrnak scored two goals, including one on a
penalty shot, and Tuukka Rask stopped a season-high 41 shots to
power Boston past Pittsburgh.
The Bruins improved their home record to just 13-15-3 (they are
20-7-3 on the road) after surrendering 15 goals in the two previous
home games.
Jimmy Hayes, Landon Ferraro and Brad Marchand scored in a 4:53 span
of the third period for Boston, breaking open a close game. Rookie
Tom Kuhnhackl scored for Pittsburgh in the second period, cutting a
two-goal deficit in half.
Avalanche 4, Sharks 3 (SO)
DENVER -- Calvin Pickard made 30 saves through overtime and stopped
both shots he faced in the shootout, and Colorado beat San Jose.
Nathan MacKinnnon and Matt Duchene scored shootout goals for the
Avalanche, who picked up two valuable points in their bid for one of
the two wild cards in the Western Conference.

Gabriel Landeskog, Jarome Iginla and Shawn Matthias had regulation
goals for the Avalanche, while Joel Ward, Brent Burns and Nick
Spaling scored for the Sharks. Martin Jones had 38 saves for San
Jose.
Ducks 1, Sabres 0
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Frederik Andersen stopped 26 shots for his first
shutout of the season to lead Anaheim over Buffalo at the Honda
Center.
Sami Vatanen's power-play goal enabled Andersen to earn his fourth
career shutout and the Ducks to match their longest winning streak
of the season with their sixth successive victory.
Robin Lehner made 28 saves for the Sabres, who played their second
consecutive game without center Ryan O'Reilly, the team's leading
scorer who will miss three to four weeks because of an injury.
