Kaelyn
Froebe led Lincoln with 19 points, while 6’4 Ohio State recruit Tori
McCoy led Champaign with 18 points.
McCoy was an all-stater two years ago when St. Thomas More won the
IHSA Class 2A Girls Basketball State Championship. St. Thomas More
has always been a basketball powerhouse and this is the first year
the school is participating in Class 3A.
By the looks of the way Twitter and Facebook were blowing up last
night with Railer Nation tweets and posts, a huge crowd turned out
for Lincoln that filled the gym to the rafters.
The fans got their money’s worth in seeing Lincoln pull off the huge
upset and it was not the first time this week that happened. The
Lady Railers stunned the defending state runner-up Rochester Lady
Rockets on Tuesday night 50-46 at the Clinton Sectional.
A phenomenal week of basketball for the Lady Railers and
particularly Froebe, who scored 41 points this week for Lincoln.
Lincoln (22-12) advances to the Springfield Supersectional to play
Highland Monday night at 7 p.m.
The winner of that supersectional will play at noon on Friday at
Redbird Arena in Normal. Congratulations and good luck to the Lady
Railers!
