NHL roundup: Foligno breaks out in Jackets' win vs. Devils

[February 26, 2016]  COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Nick Foligno recorded his second career hat trick and his first four-point game of the season, and the Columbus Blue Jackets broke out for an easy 6-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Thursday in Nationwide Arena.

Brandon Dubinsky, Brandon Saad and Rene Bourque also scored for the Blue Jackets, while Matt Calvert and William Karlsson set a career highs with three assists each.

Joonas Korpisalo finished with 25 saves for Columbus.

Reid Boucher scored the Devils' lone goal.

Flyers 3, Wild 2

PHILADELPHIA -- Starting an all-important six-game homestand on the right note, Philadelphia beat Minnesota at Wells Fargo Center.

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Mark Streit and Sam Gagner scored for the Flyers, while Michal Neuvirth saved the game with two massive stops late in the third period.

Sam Gagner and Thomas Vanek scored for the Wild.

Panthers 3, Coyotes 2

SUNRISE, Fla. -- Aleksander Barkov returned from the injured list to score twice -- the go-ahead goal and the game-winner -- as first-place Florida defeated Arizona at the BB&T Center.

Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo made 22 saves, while Vincent Trocheck also scored for the Panthers.

Shane Doan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored for the Coyotes while Louis Domingue made 21 saves.

Maple Leafs 3, Hurricanes 1

TORONTO -- Josh Leivo broke a tie and Toronto went on to defeat Carolina.

Brad Boyes and Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau added goals for the Maple Leafs and Jonathan Bernier stopped 29 shots.

John-Michael Liles scored for the Hurricanes while Cam Ward made 25 saves.

Predators 3, Blackhawks 1

CHICAGO -- Calle Jarnkrok scored the tiebreaking goal with 1:51 remaining in the third period, lifting Nashville over Chicago.

Viktor Arvidsson and Miikka Salomaki also scored for the Predators, and Pekka Rinne stopped 38 of 39 shots.

Brent Seabrook scored for the Blackhawks, and Corey Crawford turned aside 29 of 31 shots.

Rangers 2, Blues 1

ST. LOUIS -- Chris Kreider's goal in the third period broke a tie and gave the New York Rangers and Henrik Lundqvist a win over St. Louis.

The win was the 30th of the season for Lundqvist, allowing him to reach that mark for the 10th time in his career.

Tanner Glass scored the other goal for the Rangers while Troy Brouwer scored for the Blues.

Jets 6, Stars 3

DALLAS -- Mark Scheifele had a goal and three assists, Joel Armia added two goals and an assist, and Michael Hutchinson stopped 27 of 30 shots for Winnipeg in a win vs. Dallas at American Airlines Center.

Blake Wheeler, Toby Enstrom Jacob Trouba also scored and Nikolaj Ehlers had two assists for the Jets.

Jason Spezza had two goals and Patrick Sharp had three assists for the Stars, who also got a goal from Tyler Seguin.

Islanders 2, Flames 1 (OT)

CALGARY, Alberta -- Josh Bailey scored with 17.8 seconds remaining in overtime to give the New York Islanders a win vs. Calgary.

Thomas Hickey also scored and Jaroslav Halak made 31 saves for the Islanders.

Jiri Hudler scored for the Flames.

Canucks 5, Senators 3

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Jake Virtanen broke a 3-3 tie with a power-play goal midway through the third period and added an assist as Vancouver defeated Ottawa.

Virtanen put the Canucks ahead at 10:59. Bo Horvat took a shot that Ottawa goaltender Craig Anderson stopped. Virtanen found the rebound and shot it through a sea of legs for his fifth goal of the season.

Matt Bartkowski scored twice and added an assist for the Canucks. It was the first three-point game of Bartkowski's career.
 


Kings 2, Oilers 1

LOS ANGELES -- Dwight King scored the go-ahead with 5:50 remaining in the third period, lifting Los Angeles to a victory over road-challenged Edmonton at Staples Center.

King got a stick on a blast by Jeff Carter, who scored a goal to tie the score earlier in the period. King earned an assist on Carter's goal.

The third-period goals allowed the Kings to capture their third straight win and their fourth in a row this season over the Oilers.
