[February 26, 2016]   LINCOLN - James T. Marter, Candidate for United States Senate-Illinois will be coming to Lincoln College Meyer-Evans Student Center at 900 North Ottawa Street on Tuesday, March 1st from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a Meet, Greet, & Eat event in the Student Room.

After serious consideration, Marter decided to seek the Republican nomination for US Senate based on Senator Mark Kirk’s record, especially due to his recent No Vote against the effort to stop funding Planned Parenthood. Kirk is a consistent supporter of gun control with a “F” rating by the NRA, has a history of opposing school choice, and has opposed almost every effort to significantly cut spending or balance the budget. Kirk is the only sitting Republican senator to have voted for the Cap & Trade energy taxes.

Some of the specific issues that the country faces and which Marter is deeply concerned include: Repeal Obamacare, Defund Planned Parenthood & support Pro-Life legislation; stop the influx of immigration, enforce existing laws, and no to another amnesty program; Balance the Budget; & strong supporter of 2nd Amendment & the right to bear arms as unequivocally stated in the Bill of Rights: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

James Marter has a passion & a premise that the people of the State of Illinois should have a Senator who is looking out for them and not the powerful corporations or lobbyists with their own profit in mind. He is looking forward to visiting and meeting the people of Lincoln and Logan County on March 1st.

Lincoln College does not endorse any political candidate.
