Obituary
Margaret H. Davis, 81, passed away at 5:00 p.m. at
Hopedale Medical Complex in Hopedale.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 1,
2016, at the Armington Christian Church at 6:00 p.m.
with Mr. Andy Johnson and Rev. Wesley Davis
officiating. A Celebration of Life will immediately
follow.
Cremation Rites to be accorded.
Margaret Hattie Hildebrandt was born December
17,1934, in rural McLean, the daughter of Martin W.
and Chonita F. Van Ness Hildebrandt. She married
Andrew Wesley Davis on December 19, 1953, in
Bloomington. He preceded her in death.
Margaret is survived by her children: Wesley
(Bobbie) Davis, Honeah (Tom) Rush, Marty Davis, Dee
Ann (Butch) Demling, Mary Davis Crismon, Barb (Jack)
Powell, and Linda Davis; 16 grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren; and one sister: Dorothy (Jim)
Salmon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy; one
son: James A. Davis, one daughter: Pam Womack; one
grandson: Troy Powell; three brothers: Frederick,
William, and Donald Hildebrandt; and two sisters:
Alice Naugle and Rose Marie Wright.
Growing up, Margaret attended Rabbit Hill School, a
one-room school house near her home. She was a
graduate of McLean Community High School and
attended St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. She
met her husband, Andy, when he was a patient at St.
Joseph. She was a member of Armington Christian
Church and the Taylor Eckhardt American Legion Post
Auxiliary in Armington. |
With her husband, she was a former owner of Davis
Caves Homes. She had worked as a bus driver for the
Olympia School District and the City of Bloomington.
She worked for local seed companies as a crew boss
during detasseling season.
Margaret felt her most important job she could have
was being a great wife, mom, grandma, and
great-grandma. She was the most warm-hearted,
selfless, caring and compassionate person. She loved
to sew, dance, sing and listen to music, especially
Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams, but mostly Gene &
Marty.
Her family especially thanks Dr. Matt Rossi whom
went to Margaret's house several times for house
calls when she wasn't able to get to the doctors'
office. They also sincerely thank all the staff at
Hopedale Medical Complex for their extraordinary
care, compassion, and accommodation for their
beloved mother.
Memorials may be made to Armington Christian Church.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home of Atlanta.
