NHL roundup: Panthers win 10th straight

 BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Five Florida players scored, leading the Panthers to a 5-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

Jaromir Jagr, Derek Mackenzie, Corban Knight, Jonathan Huberdeau and Brandon Pirri scored for Florida. The Panthers extended their franchise-best winning streak to 10 games.

Roberto Luongo made 31 saves.

Ryan O'Reilly scored for the Sabres, who lost their fifth game in a row. Linus Ullmark made 22 saves.

Capitals 3, Bruins 2

BOSTON -- Washington took over the top spot in the NHL standings with a victory over Boston.

Evgeny Kuznetsov scored one goal and set up another and Braden Holtby stopped 25 shots for the Capitals, who are 10-1-1 in their last 12 games.

Andre Burakovsky and Marcus Johansson also scored for the Capitals.

Loui Eriksson and Patrice Bergeron scored for the Bruins.

 

Rangers 6, Stars 2

NEW YORK -- Derek Stepan scored twice to help the New York Rangers to an easy victory against Dallas at Madison Square Garden.

Derick Brassard, Viktor Stalberg, Jayson Megna and Keith Yandle scored for the Rangers, who are 3-2-0 in their past five games after a 3-9-2 stretch. Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves.

John Klingberg and Antoine Roussel scored for the Stars while Antti Niemi allowed six goals on 29 shots.

Blackhawks 3, Penguins 2 (OT)

PITTSBURGH -- Artemi Panarin's second goal of the game came in overtime to give Chicago a victory over Pittsburgh.

Jonathan Toews also scored for Chicago.

Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang scored for the Penguins, who erased a 2-0 deficit.

Wild 4, Blue Jackets 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Zach Parise had his first hat trick of the season, leading Minnesota over Columbus in Nationwide Arena.

Parise, who now has 14 goals, was set up on his first two goals by Mikael Granlund, who also scored. Devan Dubnyk had 26 saves for his 17th victory of the season for the Wild.

Cam Atkinson and Boone Jenner scored for the Blue Jackets and Anton Forsberg finished with 28 saves.

Flyers 4, Canadiens 3

PHILADELPHIA -- After dropping three in a row -- all on the road while being outscored 10-5 -- Philadelphia received multi-point efforts from Brayden Schenn (one goal, two assists), Sean Couturier (one goal, one assist) and Shayne Gostisbehere (one goal, one assist) to top Montreal and pick up its first win since Dec. 21.

Wayne Simmonds also scored for the Flyers, who got 21 saves from Michael Neuvirth.

Alex Galchenyuk, Brendan Gallagher and Daniel Carr scored the Canadiens while Ben Scrivens denied 27 shots.

Jets 4, Predators 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Winnipeg got 43 saves from rookie Connor Hellebuyck to beat Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena.

Drew Stafford scored twice, and Ben Chiarot and Alexander Burmistrov added one each to support Hellebuyck.

Colin Wilson scored the Predators lone goal while Pekka Rinne finished with 14 saves.

Flames 3, Lightning 1

CALGARY, Alberta -- Karri Ramo stopped 30 of 31 shots he faced to backstop Calgary to a win over Tampa Bay at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Looking for his second straight shutout, Ramo gave up a late goal Steven Stamkos with just 1:39 left in the third period. Ben Bishop made 21 saves for the Lightning.

Matt Stajan, Lance Bouma and David Jones scored for the Flames, who vaulted over three teams and into third place in the Pacific Division.
