Obituary
Viola Augusta “Vi” Bailey, 78, of Bloomington,
formerly of Lincoln, died at 11:00 a.m. January 4,
2016 at Advocate Bromenn Hospital, Bloomington.
Viola was born October 23, 1937 in Logan County at
her Grandparent’s house, the daughter of August S.
and Elsie Sahs Fuehring. She married James “Jim”
William Bailey September 1, 1957 in Lincoln. He
preceded her in death July 3, 2008.
Vi is survived by one son: Robert James (Christine)
Bailey of Jessup, GA; two daughters: Janet (Warren
“Bud”) Petersen, of St. Helena Island, SC and Karol
Lisa (Shams)Hassani of Bloomington; three
grandchildren: Todd Petersen, Erik (Jennifer)
Petersen of Beaufort, SC and Tiffany (Kyle) Thomas
of Oakford; four step-grandchildren: Amanda, Amber,
Brandon, and Hope; five great-grandchildren: Nathan,
Garret, Eryana, Kaylie, and Brylie and five
step-great- grandchildren; one sister: Charlotte
Fuehring Steiger of Frankfort; niece Susan Steiger
and her son, a great-nephew Cameron; two-nephews:
Michael (Sharon) Steiger; Jeffrey (Karen) Steiger
and two step-great-nephews, Shawn and Bryan. |
Vi retired from Hicks Gas. She is the former owner
and operater Vi’s House of Ceramics in Lincoln; and
was Activities Director at Lincoln Christian Nursing
Home. She was an excellent seamstress; loved
crafting, sharing her faith, animals and instilled
love and compassion in her children. She was a
former board member of the LifePointe Church of God.
Services for Vi will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday,
January 9, 2016 at LifePointe Church of God with
Rev. Josh Merreighn, Rev. Keith Moore, and Rev.
Jacob Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in
Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be Friday
from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be given in
Vi’s name to LifePointe Children’s Ministry.
