Annie’s Project Education for Farm Women to begin February 16, 2016

[January 15, 2016]  LINCOLN - Today’s agricultural climate is becoming more challenging and complex. Market volatility, production risk, debt and legal uncertainty are just a few of the issues surrounding farmers and ranchers today.

Women’s roles on farm operations have changed drastically over the past several decades. More women are taking active roles, and one out of every seven farms is now managed by a woman. Annie’s Project is an educational program dedicated to strengthening farm women’s roles in the modern farm enterprise.

Annie’s Project and University of Illinois Extension are joining forces to present a six-session farm management course for farm women starting February, 2016.

This course is a discussion-based workshop bringing women together to learn from experts in the field. Through the use of innovative technology, participants will learn about business plans, marketing, farm leases, insurances, estate planning, property titles and financial management from the nation’s top agricultural professionals.

The program will also introduce and connect the participants to local professionals who can assist them long after the program has ended.

This unique program will begin on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 and will meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening for three weeks from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Logan County U of I Extension office, 980 N. Postville Dr., Lincoln, IL. The final session will be held March 3.

The course fee is $50.00 and includes a program binder, class handouts, resources and 18 hours of instruction.
