Mount Pulaski woman loses life in home fire

[January 19, 2016]  The Logan County Coroner, Robert Thomas, has announced that Melva M. Behrens, age 58, of rural Mount Pulaski was pronounced dead at 8:36 a.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 .

There was a house fire at her residence. Her body was discovered in the home by firefighters.

The fire and death are under investigation by the Logan County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Logan County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy was performed and the results are pending.
