OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Golden State Warriors recorded a knockout in Round 1 of their battle with the San Antonio Spurs for Western Conference regular-season superiority Monday night, riding Stephen Curry's 37 points to a 120-90 victory in the highly anticipated showdown.

The reigning NBA Most Valuable Player bombed in five 3-pointers as the Warriors (41-4) shot 11-for-26 from beyond the arc in the first meeting of the top two teams in the West this season.

Golden State's 39th consecutive home victory -- their 21st this season -- gave it a three-game lead over San Antonio (38-7) in their duel for top seeding in the Western playoffs.

The loss snapped a 13-game winning streak for the Spurs, who had an 18.0-point average margin of victory during that run. They played without star power forward Tim Duncan, who was resting an ailing right knee.

Cavaliers 114, Timberwolves 107

CLEVELAND -- LeBron James had 25 points and nine assists and Cleveland survived a late charge for a victory against Minnesota for Tyronn Lue's first victory as a head coach.

A three-point play from Zach LaVine pulled the Timberwolves within 110-107 with 16.5 seconds left. But James sealed the win with a pair of free throws at the other end.

Rookie Karl Anthony-Towns had 26 points and 11 rebounds and Andrew Wiggins had 20 points for the Timberwolves, who were trying to win consecutive games for just the second time since November.

Celtics 116, Wizards 91

WASHINGTON -- Isaiah Thomas continued to torment Washington with 23 points and nine assists as Boston finished off a four-game season of the Wizards.

Evan Turner scored 18 points for the Celtics, who outscored the Wizards 63-42 in the second half and led by as many as 27 points in their third straight win.

Washington played its first game since Wednesday. The massive snowstorm that dropped over two feet of snow throughout the D.C. area over the weekend led to the NBA postponing Saturday's home game against the Utah Jazz. The layoff may have sapped any momentum following Wednesday's 106-87 drubbing of the Miami Heat.

Heat 89, Bulls 84

CHICAGO -- Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds, and Miami rallied past Chicago.

Chris Bosh scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Amare Stoudemire added eight points and 10 rebounds for Miami, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

Bulls guard Derrick Rose left the game late in the second quarter because of injuries to his lower back and right hamstring. Rose missed three games earlier this season because of a right hamstring injury.

Rockets 112, Pelicans 111

NEW ORLEANS -- James Harden scored 35 points Trevor Ariza added 31 points to lift Houston over New Orleans.

Patrick Beverley gave the Rockets the lead for good by hitting an open 3-pointer from the left wing with 1:09 left, putting Houston ahead 110-109.

The Pelicans lost Anthony Davis due to a concussion. Davis, who did not return after getting hurt late in the second quarter, finished with nine points and six rebounds in 19 minutes.

Grizzlies 108, Magic 102 (OT)

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Reserve Jeff Green scored a season-high 30 points and Zach Randolph added 18 points and 13 rebounds to lead Memphis over Orlando.

The win was the ninth straight by Memphis over the Magic. Orlando hasn't won at FedExForum since Jan. 23, 2008.

Nikola Vucevic, Tobias Harris and Evan Fournier each scored 16 points to lead the Magic, who dropped their sixth straight.

Pistons 95, Jazz 92

SALT LAKE CITY -- Reggie Jackson scored 29 points and Ersan Ilyasova added 16 points to help Detroit hold off a late fourth-quarter rally and beat Utah.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Anthony Tolliver added 12 points apiece for the Pistons. Detroit swept the season series with Utah and snapped a two-game losing streak.

Rodney Hood scored 23 points and Gordon Hayward added 22 points to lead the Jazz.

Hawks 119, Nuggets 105

DENVER -- Paul Millsap had 22 points and nine rebounds, Al Horford scored 18, and Atlanta grabbed a big lead early and cruised past Denver.

Jeff Teague had 12 points and 10 assists, and guard Schroder added 15 points off the bench for Atlanta, which finished 2-2 on its Western Conference road trip.

Denver's Will Barton scored 21 and center Nikola Jokic had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Hornets 129, Kings 128 (2 OT)

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Troy Daniels canned his eighth 3-pointer of the game with nine seconds remaining in the second overtime, capping a career night for him and lifting Charlotte past Sacramento.

Daniels, a third-year pro out of Virginia Tech, finished with a career-high 28 points, and the Hornets overcame a career-high 56 points from Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins to win their third straight.

Daniels canned eight of 11 3-point tries, while Cousins made 21 of 30 shots and topped the 40-point mark for the third time this season.
