June 30 (The Sports Xchange) -
Los Angeles Dodgers ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw was placed on
the 15-day disabled list on Thursday with a lower back injury.
Kershaw received an epidural in his ailing back and will likely be
idle for several days before being re-examined. Kershaw returned to
Los Angeles from Milwaukee on Wednesday morning for tests on his
			balky lower back.

The left-hander has been bothered by stiffness the past few days.

Kershaw has an 11-2 record with a National League-leading 1.79 ERA.
His 121 innings pitched, 145 strikeouts, 0.727 WHIP and 0.7 walks
per nine innings also lead the league.

Hours after Clayton Kershaw landed on the disabled list with a back
injury, the Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to acquire right-hander Bud
Norris from the Atlanta Braves for two prospects.

Norris is an eight-year veteran who was drawing trade interest from
multiple teams, including the Miami Marlins.

Norris is 3-7 this season with a 4.22 ERA but has a 2.15 ERA, 29
strikeouts and only eight walks in 29 1/3 innings over his last five
starts. His next turn in the rotation was set for Friday, making him
			the likely replacement for Kershaw.

The Miami Marlins have agreed on a deal in which they will acquire
veteran reliever Fernando Rodney from the San Diego Padres,
			according to published reports.

Purke, who was optioned to Charlotte after Wednesday's game.
