3rd Fridays event brings “Summer Fun” to downtown Lincoln, July 15th

[July 15, 2016]   LINCOLN - The City of Lincoln continues the “3rd Fridays Downtown” summer series with “Summer Fun”, which will take place on Friday, July 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Put on your bathing suit or swim trunks and prepare for a night of wet fun. This month’s event offers activities such as an inflatable water slide, fire hose spray down by the City of Lincoln Fire Department, and frozen t-shirt contests which will take place at 6:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. The first person to unravel their frozen t-shirt wins a prize!

Other activities include water gun ping pong ball shooting and the return of giant versions of popular games such as Jenga, Connect Four, and Bozo Balls, to name a few. Local residents are also hosting a 3-hour Bags Tournament. The cost is $10 per team with prizes awarded to the top teams.

The City of Lincoln Fire Department and Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District will showcase fire equipment and St. John’s Hospital of Springfield will showcase a Life Flight helicopter in the "Touch-A-Truck" feature this month.

Joe Ryan, Country Financial, will provide FREE hot dogs, Sorrento’s and Dominoes will once again provide pizza by the slice for $1, and Mama’s Arcade will be serving cheeseburgers for $1.

Music this month will include performances by Hushpad and Cantalouper.

Visitors are encouraged to stroll through the growing vendor market and explore the downtown area as many businesses will have special extended hours to accommodate late night shopping.
