[July 15, 2016]  LINCOLN - Harriet Jane Obitts, 93, of Lincoln passed away at 10:56 a.m. July 5, 2016 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

Graveside Service: Noon, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Harriet Jane Obitts, 93, of Lincoln passed away at 10:56 a.m. July 5, 2016 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

Harriet was born September 18, 1922 in Beason, the daughter of Homer B. and Retta Bumcrots Trowbridge. She married James L. Parker May 1941 in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death September 27, 1980. She then married Lee Obitts on November 15, 1984 in Canton. He preceded her in death in 1991.

Harriet is survived by four sons: James R. (Rosemary) Parker of Leroy; Ronald E. (Linda) Parker; William D. (Gloria) Parker; Charles L. Parker; two daughters: Janice E. Parker and Virginia Ann (Dennis) Davis, all of Lincoln; one brother: James B. Trowbridge of Beason.; 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands; one daughter: Sandra; and one brother: Rex.

Harriet was a salesclerk at S.S. Kresge’s; Sears, and J.C. Penny’s, all in Lincoln. She retired from J.C. Penny’s. Harriet was a member of The Congregational Church of Christ in Canton. She enjoyed traveling.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be given in Harriet’s name to American Cancer Society or Beason Methodist Church.
