July 24 (The Sports Xchange) -
Former Arizona Cardinals star Darnell Dockett is expected to
announce his retirement on Monday, ESPN reported.
Dockett, 35, hasn't played since the 2013 season. The three-time Pro
Bowl defensive tackle had 40.5 sacks in 10 NFL seasons.
Dockett tore the ACL in his right knee during training camp in 2014
and missed the entire season. The Cardinals released him in February
2015 and he didn't play last season after being released by the San
Francisco 49ers shortly before the start of the regular season.
Dockett posted a career-high nine sacks in 2007. He also matched a
Super Bowl record with three sacks when the Cardinals lost to the
Pittsburgh Steelers following the 2008 season.

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles doesn't seem concerned about
his quarterback situation even if Ryan Fitzpatrick decides not to
return.
Bowles will move on with Geno Smith as the starter with the Jets'
second-year coach getting ready for training camp this week.
"I think Geno can be a good starter, but he's got to prove it in
training camp like everybody else," Bowles told the New York Daily
News.
Bowles said last month that there is no deadline for Fitzpatrick to
rejoin the team and regain his starting role. NFL Media's Ian
Rapoport reported last week that talks had ground to a halt, and
they weren't going to pick up any time soon.

The Detroit Lions placed three players on the physically unable to
perform list, including tight end Brandon Pettigrew.
Detroit also announced Sunday that it placed receiver Corey Fuller
and offensive tackle Corey Robinson on the PUP list.
Pettigrew tore his left ACL last December and is expected to miss
most of training camp. Fuller is recovering from offseason foot
surgery.
Robinson's injury or reason to be on the list hasn't been disclosed
by the Lions.

The New England Patriots signed second-year defensive back Vinnie
Sunseri and rookie free agent offensive lineman Kyler Kerbyson.
Sunseri, 24, was originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the
fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Alabama. Sunseri was
released by the Saints on April 25.
Kerbyson, 23, was a two-year starter for Tennessee. (Editing by
