July 29 (The Sports Xchange) -
The NFL has reinstated Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan on a
conditional basis following his year-long suspension for violations
of the substance-abuse policy.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell notified Jordan that he can join the
Dolphins at training camp, which opened Friday. Jordan, 26, can
become eligible for Week One of the regular season after a follow-up
meeting with the NFL.
Jordan, the third overall pick in the 2013 draft, had been suspended
indefinitely since April 2015 without pay following multiple
violations of the NFL-NFLPA policy and program for substances of
abuse. He has been suspended three times during his NFL career.
The league said prior to the start of the regular season Jordan will
meet with the NFL to review his progress.
Based on his compliance and engagement with his program and
resources, Jordan will be permitted to participate in all
regular-season activities beginning in Week One. He will be
evaluated later in the season for full reinstatement.

Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith, who is serving a one-year
suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy, has
entered a treatment center, multiple media outlets reported.
Although it is not yet known what Smith is being treated for, this
news comes a few days after a Periscope video showed an unidentified
man and woman having a conversation about a hand-rolled cigarette.
This is not Smith's first visit to a treatment center. He was in
rehab in 2013 after two DUI arrests.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed running back and return specialist

Sproles, 32, skipped all three weeks of voluntary organized team
activity practices in May but reported for the team's mandatory
minicamp in June.

million, with $23 million in guarantees.

the past two seasons.

Levy were placed on the active/non-football injury list.

for the Lions in his seven-year NFL career, but played just one game
last season because of a hip injury.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga passed his preseason
physical and was cleared to practice.
Maualuga, 29, had been placed on the active/non-football injury list
on Tuesday. The Bengals did not divulge the nature of the injury for
Maualuga, who had dealt with hamstring issues and had to sit out the
majority of Cincinnati's offseason work.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins was among 10 players not
cleared for the start of training camp.
Watkins is recovering from April surgery to repair a broken bone in
his left foot.
The Bills placed Watkins, wide receiver Marcus Easley, defensive end
Shaq Lawson and defensive tackle Kyle Williams on the
active/physically unable to perform list.
The team also placed linebacker Manny Lawson and wide receiver Kolby
Listenbee on the active/non-football injury list.
In addition, the team has placed defensive tackle Marcell Dareus,
defensive back Jonathan Dowling, offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson
and running back Karlos Williams on the active/non-football illness
