[June 01, 2016]  WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland's justice ministry, which makes the final decision on extraditions of Polish citizens, intends to extradite Roman Polanski to the United States if the court approves it, Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro said on Wednesday.

Ziobro, who also serves as Poland's prosecutor general, said on Tuesday he would appeal to the supreme court an earlier court decision not to extradite the Oscar-winning filmmaker over a 1977 child sex conviction, reigniting a long legal battle.

"If the (supreme court) appeal is upheld, I will give an approving decision," Ziobro said, adding he awaits the ruling "respectfully."
