CHESTNUT
- Larry Lee “Fox” Montgomery, 79, of Chestnut, fell asleep in the
Lord at 3:47 a.m. Thursday June 2, 2016, at Vonderlieth Living
Center in Mount Pulaski.

Obituary
Larry Lee “Fox” Montgomery, 79, of Chestnut, fell
asleep in the Lord at 3:47 a.m. Thursday June 2,
2016, at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Larry was born on October 28, 1936, in Niantic, to
Lawrence O. and Ellen E. Rice Montgomery. He married
Mylla D. Richardson on February 14, 1959. She
survives. He later married Betty Drake Koenig on
October 13, 1985. She also survives in Chestnut.
Larry is also survived by his daughter Julie (Bill)
Stoll; two sons: James (Erica) Montgomery, and Jon
(Teresa) Montgomery, all of Mt. Pulaski; one
step-son, John Koenig of Chestnut; one
brother-in-law, P.D. Highsmith of Oblong, one
sister-in-law, MaryAnn Montgomery of Decatur, Seven
grandchildren: Chelsea and Jacob Stoll, Meghan
(Dylan) DeFevers, Vicki and Jim Montgomery, Michelle
(Matthew) Fuller and Erica (David) Devenbaugh; one
great-granddaughter Brenna Montgomery, one
great-grandchild on the way, one niece and two
nephews.
Larry was a 30 year member of the Illinois Air
National Guard. He was also a member of the Mount
Pulaski Masonic Lodge and the Mount Pulaski
Christian Church. He retired from Sears and Roebuck
and worked for many years at Stahl’s Furniture. He
enjoyed golfing and was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan. |
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister
Sharon Highsmith, brother Roy Montgomery, and one
step son Lee Koenig.
Graveside services for Larry will be at 2:00 p.m.
Monday June 6, 2016 at Laenna Cemetery in Chestnut
with Greg Taylor officiating. Military honors will
be accorded by the Mount Pulaski American Legion
Post #447.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to
Vonderlieth Living Center of Safe Haven Hospice
Care.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski
is entrusted with arrangements.
