On Thursday evening, the Logan County Arts opened their June show with a reception. "Get your Kicks" offers the artistic interpretations of the Route 66 theme featuring the great Mother Road that also runs through our county. The show is open this weekend at the Lincoln Art Institute just south of the Post Office on McLean Street. For those who are downtown enjoying the Pigs and Swigs and Up in Smoke, the Art Institute will offer a quiet and entertaining diversion from the hustle and bustle of the streets outside.

The Logan County Genealogical and Historical Society in Lincoln is holding its second annual rummage sale this weekend. The sale began on Friday and will conclude this afternoon. Among the many items for sale, this year is this "Army group of 300 from Logan County" taken on June 24, 1918, by D.M. Wright of Lincoln. There are also several older Lincolnite yearbooks, a 1982 History of Logan County, and an 1893 hardcover, Logan County Plat Book. Sale items consist of overstock at the Society as well as items donated by LCGHS members and patrons. The LCGHS is located on Chicago Street in Lincoln. For those attending the Up In Smoke and Pigs and Swigs, the sale is just a short walk west from the downtown square on Broadway, then turn north on Chicago and walk just one block. Sale hours for today are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
