June 14 (The Sports Xchange) -
The Denver Broncos agreed to terms with linebacker Brandon Marshall
on a four-year contract extension, the team announced on Tuesday.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the NFL Network noted that
the deal is worth $32 million, with $20 million guaranteed and
another $10 million serving as a signing bonus.
Marshall had a second-round, $2.553 million tender placed on him by
the Broncos earlier this summer. The sides had until Wednesday to
come into agreement.
With Marshall in the fold, Denver is expected to turn its attention
toward fellow linebacker Von Miller. The Broncos placed the
franchise tag on the Super Bowl MVP, who reportedly turned down a
six-year, $114.5 million offer from the club.

Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden will miss up to eight
weeks with a broken left elbow.
McFadden broke his elbow trying to prevent his cell phone from
falling and shattering, according to Cowboys running backs coach
Gary Brown.
Head coach Jason Garrett said Dallas is operating under the
expectation that McFadden will be back for some portion of minicamp,
but added he was only a possibility for the regular-season opener
Sept. 11 against the New York Giants.
McFadden became the Cowboys' starter last season after Joseph Randle
fell out of favor. He will likely begin the season behind fourth
overall pick Ezekiel Elliott, who is competing with former Redskins
Pro Bowl running back Alfred Morris for offseason reps.

Carolina Panthers defensive tackle Kawann Short made a statement by
showing up for mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, but he kept all other
comments to himself.
Short, who is in the final year of his rookie contract and could be
in line for a huge pay increase, said he was told not to discuss the
standoff when questioned, but later said it was his decision not to
talk.

Head coach Ron Rivera said the financial side of the game is the
most difficult and directly cited the $103 million contract for
Eagles Pro Bowl defensive tackle Fletcher Cox as a hurdle between
the Panthers and Short getting a deal done.
Short, a second-round pick from Purdue, had a breakout season with
10.5 sacks last season and was selected to his first Pro Bowl.

San Diego Chargers rookie defensive end Joey Bosa didn't report to
the first day of the team's mandatory minicamp due to a dispute over
his rookie contract.
Bosa, the No. 3 overall selection in the 2016 NFL draft, is unsigned
and negotiations are at a current impasse over what is known as
offset money.
Bosa's representatives are requesting that Bosa's salary be
guaranteed over four seasons, even if he is released before the
length of the deal concludes. The Chargers are balking at that
proposition and insisting on maintaining their rights to recover
some of the money should Bosa be released.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wants to keep the
offense on the field at all costs - even after scoring a touchdown.
Roethlisberger told reporters that he wants to see the team vie for
two points following every trip into the end zone for the upcoming
season.
The Steelers led the league in both two-point attempts (11) and
conversions (eight) in 2015, with the 34-year-old Roethlisberger
approving of the math as opposed to kicking the conventional extra
point. (Editing by Larry Fine) ))
