NHL draft trade roundup: Sabres acquire D Kulikov

 The Buffalo Sabres acquired defenseman Dmitry Kulikov in a trade with the Florida Panthers as the second round of the NHL draft got underway Saturday.

The Sabres also received a second-round pick in the 2016 draft (33rd overall) from the Panthers in exchange for defenseman Mark Pysyk, a second-round pick (38th overall) and a third-round pick (89th overall) in 2016.

The Sabres used the 33rd pick, the third choice in the second round, to select Swedish center Rasmus Asplund.

Kulikov, 25, is signed for one more season with a salary cap charge of $4.33 million. He can become an unrestricted free agent following the 2016-17 season.

The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Kulikov completed his seventh NHL season with the Panthers in 2015-16, totaling 17 points (one goal, 16 assists) and a plus-8 rating in 74 games while logging 21:02 of ice time per game. In 460 career NHL regular-season games, Kulikov has recorded 138 points (28 points, 110 assists) and 300 penalty minutes, ranking second among Panthers' defensemen in goals, assists and points during that span. Kulikov has appeared in 13 career NHL playoff games, tallying one goal and four assists.

Pysyk, 24, is signed for one more season with a salary-cap charge of $1.125 million. He can become a restricted free agent next July 1.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Pysyk recorded 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) in 55 games this past season with Buffalo. The native of Sherwood Park, Alberta has recorded 26 points (five goals, 21 assists) in 125 career games, all with Buffalo (2012-16).

Pysyk was originally selected by Buffalo in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2010 draft.

--The New York Rangers acquired defenseman Nick Holden from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for their own fourth-round pick in the 2017 draft.

Holden, 29, skated in 82 games with Colorado this past season, registering 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) and 24 penalty minutes.

The 6-4, 210-pound Holden has skated in 221 career NHL games over parts of five seasons with Columbus and Colorado, recording 61 points (21 goals, 40 assists) and 74 penalty minutes. The St. Albert, Alberta, native was originally signed by Columbus as an undrafted free agent on March 28, 2008.

--The Dallas Stars acquired defenseman Nick Ebert from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for goaltender Jack Campbell.

Ebert, 22, appeared in 44 games for the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, recording 12 points (two goals, 10 assists). In four Calder Cup playoff games, he recorded 14 shots on net and two penalty minutes.

Campbell, 24, appeared in one career NHL game with Dallas, stopping 41 shots on Oct. 20, 2013 at Anaheim. In 122 regular-season games with the AHL's Texas Stars, he produced a 56-43-10 record with a 2.73 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage.

--The Arizona Coyotes acquired defenseman Anthony DeAngelo from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for the team's 2016 second-round draft choice (37th overall).

DeAngelo, 20, registered 43 points (six goals, 37 assists) in 69 games with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League last season, ranking seventh among league defenseman.

--The Columbus Blue Jackets traded left winger Kerby Rychel to the Toronto Maple Leafs for defenseman Scott Harrington and a conditional pick in the 2017 draft.

Rychel, 21, had nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 32 games last season for Columbus. The 2013 first-round pick has two career goals in 37 NHL games.

Harrington, 23, has played in 25 NHL games between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Toronto Maple Leafs. He has one career assist.

--The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired a 2016 third-round draft pick (77th overall) from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Beau Bennett.

Pittsburgh's top-two picks in the second round were goaltender Filip Gustavsson with the 55th selection and forward Kasper Bjorkqvist at 61st overall.
