NHL roundup: Red-hot Ducks continue to roll

[March 04, 2016]  GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Corey Perry had a goal and two assists, and Jamie McGinn scored his second goal in two games with his new team as the Anaheim Ducks rolled over the Arizona Coyotes 5-1 Thursday at Gila River Arena.

Rickard Rakell, Cam Fowler and Josh Manson also scored, while Frederik Andersen made 27 saves for the Ducks, who matched a franchise record with their 10th consecutive win, a mark that was set from Dec. 6-28, 2013. Anaheim is 17-1-1 in its past 19 games and 24-4-2 since the Christmas break.

Anaheim also earned a point in a 12th game in a row (11-0-1). Both streaks are the longest active runs in the NHL.

Anthony Duclair scored the Coyotes lone goal and Niklas Treutle, who was making his first NHL start, stopped just 11 of 16 shots before he was replaced by Louis Domingue. Domingue stopped all five shots he faced.

Kings 3, Canadiens 2

LOS ANGELES -- Dwight King's third-period goal was the difference, and Los Angeles held on for a victory over Montreal at Staples Center.

Anze Kopitar and Tanner Pearson also scored for the Kings, while Jonathan Quick stopped 13 of 15 shots. Lars Eller and P.K. Subban scored for the Canadiens, who got 28 saves from Ben Scrivens.

The Kings, who have won five of their last six contests, remained tied with the Anaheim Ducks atop the Pacific Division with 80 points each. The two rivals square off again for the second time in the past week on Saturday at Staples Center.

Bruins 4, Blackhawks 2

BOSTON -- Brad Marchand scored his 33rd goal of the season, and Boston won consecutive games at home for the first time in nearly three months, beating Chicago.

Marchand was one of four Bruins with multi-point nights, joined by new acquisition Lee Stempniak (two assists) as well as Patrice Bergeron (goal, assist) and Torey Krug (two assists).

Ryan Spooner and Loui Eriksson also scored for the Bruins, who got 25 saves from Tuukka Rask.

Scott Darling stopped 21 shots while Jonathan Toews and Tomas Fleischmann scored for the Blackhawks.

Penguins 4, Rangers 1

PITTSBURGH -- Led by Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh took advantage of an uncharacteristic meltdown by goalie Henrik Lundqvist to score three times in less than two minutes late in the second period and beat the New York Rangers.

Patric Hornqvist added his fifth goal in three games, Crosby, Malkin and Phil Kessel all scored for the Penguins, while Marc-Andre Fleury made 27 saves.

Chris Kreider scored his 14th goal of the season for the Rangers. Lundqvist stopped the first 17 Penguins shots, only to allow three goals on the next five shots, and backup Antti Raanta came on for the third period.

Oilers 4, Flyers 0

PHILADELPHIA -- Edmonton outplayed Philadelphia for a third straight victory and just its ninth away from home.

Connor McDavid tallied an assist to give him 20 points in his last 16 games, while Lauri Korpikoski, Nail Yakupov, Taylor Hall and Patrick Maroon scored for the Oilers. Cam Talbot was outstanding in his ninth straight start, making 35 saves.

In his fifth consecutive outing, Michal Neuvirth stopped 27 shots for the Flyers.

Wild 2, Maple Leafs 1

TORONTO -- Mikael Granlund's third-period power-play marker pushed Minnesota over Toronto Maple at Air Canada Centre.

Mikko Koivu had the other Wild goal while Devan Dubnyk made 21 saves.

Jake Gardiner had the lone goal for the Maple Leafs and Garret Sparks made 20 saves in the loss.

Lightning 4, Senators 1

OTTAWA -- Ben Bishop made 33 saves to lead Tampa Bay over Ottawa for its eighth consecutive victory.

Cedric Paquette, Ondrej Palat, Nikita Kucherov and Steven Stamkos had the Lightning's goals, while Marc Methot replied for the Senators.

Andrew Hammond made 25 saves for Ottawa.

Sabres 6, Flames 3

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Marcus Foligno had a goal and two assists to lead Buffalo over Calgary.

Jack Eichel, Johan Larsson, Evander Kane, Rasmus Ristolainen and Nicolas Deslauriers also scored for the Sabres. Robin Lehner made 26 saves.

Mikael Backlund, Dougie Hamilton and Sean Monahan scored for the Flames, who have lost seven straight games. Jonas Hiller made 29 saves.

Islanders 4, Jets 3 (OT)

WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Nick Leddy scored with 29 seconds left in regulation, and Kyle Okposo added his second goal of the night at 2:20 of overtime, giving the New York Islanders a win in Winnipeg.

Shane Prince and Calvin De Haan also scored for the Islanders.

Mark Scheifele, Dustin Byfuglien and Tyler Myers scored for the Jets.

Devils 5, Predators 4 (OT)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Adam Henrique scored the equalizer in the final minute and the winner at 1:54 of overtime, as New Jersey stole two points in Nashville.

Travis Zajac, Kyle Palmieri and Devante Smith-Pelly also scored for the Devils.

Filip Forsberg, Craig Smith, Mike Ribeiro and Paul Gaustad scored for the Predators in the loss.
 


Avalanche 3, Panthers 2

DENVER -- Calvin Pickard made 38 saves, Gabriel Landeskog had a goal and an assist, and Colorado beat Florida to spoil Jaromir Jagr's record-setting night.

Jagr had an assist for his 1,850th career point, tying him with Gordie Howe for third all-time. He is 37 points behind Mark Messier for second.

Matt Duchene and Mikkel Boedker also had goals for the Avalance and Tyson Barrie had two assists.

The Panthers got goals from Erik Gudbranson and Brian Campbell and Roberto Luongo stopped 23 shots.

Sharks 3, Canucks 2

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Patrick Marleau scored on a two-on-one breakaway at 5:29 of the third period as San Jose rallied to defeat Vancouver.

It was Marleau's 92nd career game-winning goal.

Tomas Hertl had a goal and an assist for the Sharks. Brent Burns, on the power play, also scored for San Jose.

Jake Virtanen and Sven Baertschi scored for Vancouver.
