The total value of Brady's deal is $60 million over four years, and
would keep him in New England through the 2019 season when he will
be 42 years old.
Brady will earn $30 million over the next two seasons, $7 million
less than the Houston Texans will pay newly signed quarterback Brock
Osweiler.
The four-time Super Bowl champion has always maintained he could
play well into his 40s.
The deal has been filed officially with the league and carries low
base salaries of $1 million for each of the next two seasons.

The Denver Broncos are among at least three teams expressing
interest in acquiring quarterback Colin Kaepernick from the San
Francisco 49ers, according to published reports.
The New York Jets and Cleveland Browns also have interest.
The Super Bowl champion Broncos need a quarterback after the
retirement of Peyton Manning and the free-agent departure of Brock
Osweiler to the Houston Texans.
The 49ers are looking to move Kaepernick after he reportedly asked

it signed Thad Lewis to a one-year deal.

Talks with incumbent starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick were
going nowhere 24 hours into free agency, leading the New York Jets
to open their minds to alternatives.
Fitzpatrick had a career year with the Jets under the tutelage of
offensive coordinator Chan Gailey last season but, according to NFL
Network, Fitzpatrick was offered a contract only slightly better
than the three-year, $21 million deal the Philadelphia Eagles gave
presumed backup Chase Daniel.
The Jets are not expected to budge from the offer to the 33-year-old
journeyman and might turn their attention elsewhere immediately. One
option is a deal with the Houston Texans to bring in Brian Hoyer.
On Thursday, the Jets completed deals with running backs Bilal
Powell and Khiry Robinson.

in 2013.

he ruptured the patellar tendon in his right knee.
According to The Record of Hackensack, Cruz agreed to the
take-it-or-leave-it offer rather than being released. He will have a
dramatically reduced base salary for 2016 of $1.3 million, and the
new deal offers him the opportunity to raise that to $5.5 million if
he hits playing time incentives.
