Boy Scout Caleb Meader addressed the Lincoln City
Council on Tuesday evening seeking permission to
build a monument honoring veterans of the Korean War
at the Lincoln Depot. Meador explained that the tree
at the depot was originally planted for the same
purpose, but because it is not marked, few people
know that. He wants to erect the monument and do
landscaping around it as his Eagle Scout project. He
will raise the money and do the work, but first
needs the approval of the city, as well as the Boy
Scout Council. Aldermen were in favor of the
request, and agreed to add the item to next week's
consent agenda.
