			LINCOLN 
			- The VFW Auxiliary Young American Creative Patriotic Art contest 
			offers students an opportunity to win up to a $10,000 scholarship 
			for their education. | 
        
            | 
			
			 National Scholarships will be awarded as follows: 
 Grand Prize - $10,000.
 Second Place - $5000.
 Third Place - $2500.
 Fourth Place - $1500
 and Fifth through Eighth places - $1000 each.
 
 First prize also includes a plaque and airfare for two nights 
			lodging to attend the Auxiliary National Convention, and their art 
			will be featured on the cover of the Auxiliary magazine and website.
 
 Eligibility
 
 Students must be in 9th,10th, 11th or 12th-graders and must attend 
			school in the same state as the sponsoring Auxiliary. Home schooled 
			students are eligible, foreign exchange students are not. National 
			winners of the past contests may not compete in future Young 
			American Creative Patriotic Art Contests.
 
 Contest rules
 
 Art must be on paper or canvas. Watercolors, pencil, pastels, 
			charcoal, tempera, crayon, acrylic, pen and ink or oil may be used. 
			Digital art is not accepted.
 
			Do not frame, submit canvas entries on stretcher frames. Other 
			entries must be matted on white only. The art should be no smaller 
			than an 8"x10" and no larger than18"x24", not including the mat. 
			Entry must have been done during the current school year.

 Completed applications and artwork must be submitted to Schaler no 
			later than Friday, March 18, 2016.

			Artwork may be dropped off at the VFW, 915 Fifth Street, Lincoln 
			between the hours of 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on March 18th.  Entries 
			may also be mailed to Melanie Schaler, P.O. Box 181, Lincoln, IL  
			62656. 
			Artwork not chosen to go further in the scholarship competition may 
			be picked up at a later date.
