[March 18, 2016]  LINCOLN - Carl F. Meyer, 84, of Lincoln, passed away at 11:57 a.m. March 12, 2016 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Visitation: 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. Thursday, March 17 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home Lincoln

Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Obituary

Carl F. Meyer, 84, of Lincoln, passed away at 11:57 a.m. March 12, 2016 at St. Clara’s Manor in Lincoln.

Carl was born April 7, 1931 in Menard Co, IL, the Son of Fred and Elizabeth (Kozinna) Meyer. He married Donna Meyer on September 2, 1953 in Springfield. She has since preceded him in death.

Carl is survived by his children; David (Kathie) Meyer of Lincoln, and Maribeth (Barry) Keir of New South Wales, Australia; his sister, Ruth Moss of Tallula, five grandchildren; Chris (Betsy) Meyer of Normal, Betsy (Luke) Boyd of Lincoln, Nicole Keir, Rachel Keir, and Emily (Jeremy) Lieschke all of Australia; his five great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Werner.

 

Carl was the owner and operator of the Lincoln staple, Mel-O-Cream Donut Shop for 52 years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, Carl loved to be outdoors. Above all else Carl loved his family.

Services for Carl will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home Lincoln, with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be held from 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. (two hours prior to service) on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Carl’s name to the Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School.
