[March 23, 2016]  CHICAGO -- Vernon Fiddler scored twice and the Dallas Stars produced four first-period goals in a 6-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night at the United Center.

Dallas clinched a playoff berth with its third straight win and toppled the defending Stanley Cup champions for the fourth time in five games this season.

Colton Sceviour, Patrick Eaves, Radek Faksa and Cody Eakin also scored for the Stars.

Andrew Shaw and Richard Panik scored for the Blackhawks.

Wild 2, Kings 1

SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- Goals by Erik Haula and Mikko Koivu were enough for Minnesota to top Los Angeles.

Devan Dubnyk's season-high 38 saves made the biggest difference, as the Wild won their third game in a row, moving ahead of the idle Colorado Avalanche by a point in the race for the final playoff spot in the West.

Tyler Toffoli scored the lone goal for the Kings, who lost for the second time in as many nights. Jonathan Quick had 16 saves for Los Angeles, which dominated offensively in all three periods but managed just one goal.

Red Wings 6, Lightning 2

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay earned a resounding win over Detroit at Amalie Arena, moving into a tie with the Florida Panthers for first place in the Eastern Conference with nine games to play.

Erik Condra, who had just one goal in the previous 65 games, scored twice, while Steven Stamkos, Ondrej Palat and Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov scored one each for the Lightning. Ben Bishop picked up his 31st win of the year but needed only 23 saves to do so.

Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm scored the Red Wings.

Blue Jackets 3, Flyers 2 (SO)

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbus, with a full embrace of the spoiler's role, scored two desperation goals in the final 1:04 of regulation, then went on to beat Philadelphia in a shootout in Nationwide Arena.

Boone Jenner was the only player to score in the five-round shootout after also scoring in regulation. Cam Atkinson scored the other Blue Jackets' goal in regulation.

Claude Giroux and Ryan White scored fort eh Flyers, and Steve Mason finished with 51 saves.

Capitals 4, Senators 2

OTTAWA -- Braden Holtby made 28 saves and closed in on the NHL record for most victories in a season as Washington defeated Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre.

The win gives Holtby 44, which is four shy of the mark set by Martin Brodeur in the 2006-07 season.

Mike Richards, Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie scored for the Capitals, while Chris Wideman and Mika Zibanejad replied for the Senators.

Carlo Colaiacovo also scored for the Sabres.

Joakim Nordstrom and Chris Terry scored for the Hurricanes.

Jets 2, Canucks 0

WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- Adam Lowry scored on a wraparound play early in the third period and Winnipeg went on beat Vancouver.

Coyotes 4, Oilers 2

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Alex Tanguay, Tobias Rieder, Martin Hanzal and Max Domi scored, and Mike Smith made 27 saves as Arizona extended its franchise-record points streak against Edmonton to 23 games with a win at Gila River Arena.

The Coyotes are 19-0-4 during the streak and coach Dave Tippett improved to 24-2-4 against the Oilers in his seven seasons in Arizona. The last time Arizona lost to Edmonton in regulation was on Jan. 25, 2011.

Jordan Eberle and Mark Letestu scored for the Oilers, which got 27 saves from Cam Talbot but lost their second straight one-goal game.

Blues 1, Sharks 0

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Robby Fabbri scored at 9:55 of the third period, and St. Louis prevented San Jose from clinching a playoff berth.

On the game-deciding goal, Fabbri outraced Sharks captain Joe Pavelski for a loose puck chipped out of the zone by St. Louis forward Troy Brouwer. Leading a two-on-one advantage against San Jose defenseman Justin Braun, Fabbri stopped, deked as if he might pass to Paul Stastny and instead wristed a shot past Sharks goalie Martin Jones.

St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott collected his third shutout of the season and the 33rd of his career with 37 saves. Jones stopped 23 of the 24 shots he faced.
