LINCOLN
- Local 4-H youth participated in the Illinois 4-H State Robotics
Competition sponsored by University of Illinois Extension on April
23rd on the U of I Urbana-Champaign campus. The rookie team from
Logan County joined 66 other teams from around the State to compete
in three events: Table Performance; Technical; and Teamwork.
|
This year’s theme was DogBot. Teams were required to program DogBots
to autonomously complete events that are similar to events used in
Dog Agility events. Any robotics kit was allowed to create the
DogBot; Team LoCo Robo created 2 DogBots using Lego Robotics NXT and
EV3 kits. The playing field was a standard FIRST LEGO League (FLL)
table with a 45” x 93” playing surface. Obstacles designed by the
team and navigated by the DogBots included a tunnel with a 45 degree
turn, a collapsed tunnel, a log run, a teeter totter, and an A-frame
ramp. The robots had three minutes to complete the programmed tasks,
and must complete them without human team members touching the
robots or anything on the field.
