 Royals 7, Nationals 6
Lorenzo Cain hit a game-winning single, capping the Kansas City
Royals' three-run, ninth-inning rally that produced a dramatic 7-6
victory over the Washington Nationals at Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals slumbered most of the game against Washington starter
Tanner Roark, but they came to life just in time.
Indians 7, Tigers 3
Francisco Lindor had three hits, including a three-run home run, and
unbeaten Josh Tomlin pitched six innings as the Cleveland Indians
beat the Detroit Tigers 7-3 Tuesday night at Progressive Field.
Lindor had a single, a double and a home run in the first five
innings as the Indians roughed up Justin Verlander, who lasted just
five innings and gave up seven runs.
Cubs 7, Pirates 1
Jake Arrieta pitching seven scoreless innings to extend his
regular-season winning streak to 17 games as the Chicago Cubs beat
the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-1 on Tuesday night.
Arrieta (6-0) allowed just two hits while striking out five and
walking two to improve to 17-0 with a 0.55 ERA in 18 starts since
last Aug. 1. He has also won nine straight starts, the longest
streak by a Cubs pitcher since Milt Pappas won 11 in a row in 1972.
 Braves 3, Mets 0
Matt Wisler and Arodys Vizcaino combined on a one-hitter Tuesday
night as the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 3-0 Tuesday at
Citi Field.
Wisler (1-2) took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, when Asdrubal
Cabrera dropped a soft single into center field. Cabrera represented
the tying run at the time, but on the next pitch, Kevin Plawecki
bounced into a double play.
Orioles 4, Yankees 1
Baltimore's Chris Tillman tied a career high with nine strikeouts,
Mark Trumbo homered twice and the Orioles beat New York 4-1,
extending the Yankees' losing streak to six games Tuesday night.
Last-place New York also fell to 3-7 against its American League
East opponents.
Giants 3, Reds 1
Jeff Samardzija allowed one run over eight innings and Buster Posey
doubled three times and scored a run, lifting the San Francisco
Giants to a 3-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night at
Great American Ball Park.
Samardzija (4-1) gave up three hits with two walks and nine
strikeouts over 115 pitches. Santiago Casilla earned his sixth save.
Dodgers 10, Rays 5
Howie Kendrick had four hits and Trayce Thompson had a home run and
four RBIs to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 10-5 win against the
Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field on Tuesday.
Joc Pederson and Yasiel Puig also hit home runs as the Dodgers
(14-13) had a successful start to a five-game Interleague swing.
 Marlins 7, Diamondbacks 4
Pinch-hitter Ichiro Suzuki lined a go-ahead, two-run single to
center in a four-run sixth inning as the Miami Marlins rallied to
defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-4 on Tuesday night at Marlins
Park.
The Marlins, who trailed 4-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, got a
two-run homer in that inning by Marcell Ozuna, a towering blow to
left.
Blue Jays 3, Rangers 1 (10 innings)
Justin Smoak tied the game in the ninth and won it in the 10th with
his first two homers of the season to bring the Toronto Blue Jays
back for a 3-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.

Smoak led off the ninth inning with his first homer of the season
against right-hander Shawn Tolleson to tie the game at 1 and Kevin
Pillar followed with a double but the Blue Jays could not push
across the winning run in the inning. Phillies 1, Cardinals 0
Ryan Howard hit a sixth-inning home run, Aaron Nola limited the
Cardinals to two hits in seven strong innings, and the Philadelphia
Phillies defeated St. Louis 1-0 Tuesday night.
Howard, a St. Louis native who has 22 career home runs in 66 games
against the Cardinals, hit Michael Wacha's first pitch of a one-out
at-bat in the sixth over the right field wall, 411 feet from the
plate. It was his sixth homer of the season.
Brewers 5, Angels 4
Rookie right-hander Junior Guerra pitched six solid innings and the
Milwaukee Brewers hit three home runs, including two by Chris
Carter, and beat the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 5-4 Tuesday night
at Miller Park.
Carter played a key role on defense, too, snaring an Andrelton
Simmons line drive in the fourth to record an unassisted double
play.
White Sox 4, Red Sox 1
Left-hander Jose Quintana pitched eight strong innings, and the
Chicago White Sox held on for a 4-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on
Tuesday.
Jose Abreu went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to
lead the White Sox at the plate. Chicago (19-8) won its third
consecutive game and improved to 9-2 in its past 11 contests.
Astros 6, Twins 4
George Springer reached base in his first three plate appearances
and the Houston Astros relied on their bullpen to close out a 6-4
win over the Minnesota Twins Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park.
Springer finished 1-for-2 with two runs, two walks and two RBIs to
pace an offense that made the most of its five hits. Center fielder
Carlos Gomez, making his return after missing three games with rib
soreness, was the lone starter to record a multi-hit game, recording
two doubles.
 Padres 6, Rockies 3
Led by consecutive fourth-inning homers from Matt Kemp and Brett
Wallace, the San Diego Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies 6-3.
The Padres rallied from a three-run deficit in clinching their
second consecutive series after losing five straight. Colorado and
San Diego concludes the three-game set at Petco Park on Wednesday.
Mariners 8, Athletics 2
Leonys Martin, Robinson Cano and Kyle Seager hit home runs, and
right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma pitched seven strong innings for his
first win of the season as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Oakland
A's 8-2 at the Oakland Coliseum on Tuesday night.
The Mariners clinched their sixth straight series win, taking the
first two games of their three-game set against Oakland. They beat
the A's in Oakland for the sixth straight time.
