Obituary
Robert “Bob” Purviance, 78, of Lincoln passed away
at 11:02 a.m. April 23, 2016 at his home surrounded
by his loving family.
Bob was born April 27, 1937 in Lincoln, the son of
Raymond P. and Mildred Reichle Purviance. He married
Sharon Stengel September 4, 1960 in Lincoln. She
survives in Lincoln.
Bob is also survived by four children: Greg (Angela)
Purviance of Terra Haute, IN; Kim (Kenneth) Nevius
of Bloomington; Christopher Purviance of Lincoln,
and Nicole Hoagland of Lincoln; siblings: Laurel
(Roy) Baker of Morton; Richard (Lois) Purviance of
Bull Shoals, AR; and Marjorie (Joe) Mileham of
Springfield; and six grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by his parents; one brother, Harry
Purviance; and one sister, Clara Larkin.

Bob served in the Air National Guard. He worked for
the State of Illinois as a Fireman at the Power
Plant at Logan Correctional Center. He was a member
of the Elks Lodge #914; and the American Legion Post
#263.
Cremation rites will be accorded. In lieu of
flowers, memorials may be given in Bob’s name to the
American Stroke Association or American Diabetes
Association. Burial will be at a later date in Old
Union Cemetery. Services were entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
