LINCOLN – Lincoln's baseball Railsplitters entered the weekend's Troy Triad Tournament still looking for a spark.

“That rain-out week really set us back because we didn't play,” Lincoln coach pat Hake said heading into the three game series in the Metro East.

The weather kept Hake's team off the field most of last week, the Railers did manage to play two tough games against Jacksonville.

“They took their swing at us, and we responded really well,” Hake said of the split against Jacksonville.

But it wasn't the games they played weighing on the coach's mind, it's the games they haven't played.

“I might eat my words, but right now I just want to play,” Hake said. “You can really get on a roll and do the right things.”

Hake said his team is focusing on the positives.

Lincoln won Friday and Saturday, and found themselves in the Troy Triad Tournament championship Saturday night.

Unfortunately O’Fallon pitcher Sam Schaefer threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead his team to a 14-0 win.

Hake says the focus for the team is now a busy week of Central State Eight games.

“There's going to be very few days off starting Tuesday,” Hake said.

The Railsplitters are now 14-12 on the season, and in fourth place in the conference.
