TV: Thursday and Friday, 1-7 p.m. EDT on the Golf Channel;
Saturday and Sunday, 2-7 p.m. EDT on NBC.
LAST YEAR: Rickie Fowler authored probably the greatest finish
in the history of the so-called "Fifth Major" when he played the
last four holes of regulation in birdie-eagle-birdie-birdie to
shoot 5-under-par 67 and get into a playoff with Kevin Kisner
(69) and Spain's Sergio Garcia (68). In a scheduled three-hole
aggregate playoff on Nos. 16-17-18, Fowler and Kisner made
birdies on the 17th, and Garcia, the 2008 Players champion,
dropped out with three pars. So Fowler and Kisner went back to
the 17th hole, where Fowler won by sinking a 5-foot birdie putt
after Kisner missed his birdie attempt from 12 feet. Fowler
played his last eight holes in 7 under par.
PGA TOUR CHAMPIONS: Regions Tradition at Greystone Golf and
Country Club in Birmingham, Ala., May 19-22.
TV: Thursday and Friday, noon-2:30 EDT; Saturday and Sunday, 5-7
p.m. EDT; on the Golf Channel each day.
LAST YEAR: Jeff Maggert claimed the first of his two major
titles on the senior circuit in 2015 when he sank a 3-foot putt
for par on the first playoff hole. That came after Kevin
Sutherland hit his tee shot into a fairway bunker, missed the
green with his approach shot and eventually two-putted from long
range for a bogey. Maggert, who captured the U.S. Senior Open a
month later for his second Champions Tour major title, has five
victories in his three season on the 50-and-over tour. He holed
another 3-footer for par on the final hole of regulation to cap
an even-par 72, while Sutherland eagled the third hole on his
way to a closing 71.
LPGA TOUR: Kingsmill Championship on the River Course at
Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va., May 19-22.
TV: Thursday and Friday, 9-11 EDT; Saturday and Sunday, 3-5 p.m.
EDT; on the Golf Channel each day.
LAST YEAR: Rookie Minjee Lee of Australia earned her first
victory on the LPGA Tour at age 18 when she posted a 7-under-par
65 to win the rain-delayed event at Kingsmill by two strokes
over South Korea's So Yeon Ryu. Lee, who added the Lotte
Championship title last month in Hawaii, made five birdies and
an eagle in a span of seven holes after a rain delay to take the
lead during the final round on Sunday. After darkness halted
play, Lee came back on Monday morning, and following a bogey on
the 16th hole, she parred the last two holes to nail down the
victory.
