Obituary
Ruth M. Rohlfs, 90, of Hartsburg, passed away May
5, 2016, at The Christian Village surrounded by her
loving family.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 9,
2016, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home,
Lincoln. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, May 10, 2016 also at the funeral home with
Pastor Larry Crawford officiating. Burial will
follow at Hartsburg Union Cemetery.
Ruth was born July 17, 1925, in Mason City, the
daughter of Ira and Maude (Brockton) Jones. She
married Merle Rohlfs on October 4, 1945. He preceded
her in death on January 24, 2013.
Mrs. Rohlfs loved to garden. She was a mother to
many and accepted anyone who needed love and
guidance. She retired from Lincoln Developmental
Center where she shared her love and guidance with
the residents and fellow staff members for many
years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and
was especially fond of her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. She was affectionately referred
to as the Queen by her husband and family. Ruth
enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the
Gaither Vocal Band. She was an avid Cubs baseball
fan. |
Surviving are her children: Debra Lee Beekman (Don) of Emden, Timothy L. Rohlfs
(Nancy) of Mackinaw, Markita Rohlfs of Hartsburg, and Brett Rohlfs (Jennifer) of
St. Joseph; 8 grandchildren: Derek Rohlfs, Craig Rohlfs, Brandon Beekman, Blake
Beekman, Chynna Farmer, Willow Krumwiede, Nadra Rohlfs, and Jude Rohlfs; 10
great grandchildren; sister Mary Jane Nehmelman of Mason City and brother John
Jones (Edna) of Mason City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Merle, brothers Paul
Jones, Herbert Jones, Jack Jones, and Kenneth Jones and her sister Virginia
Hovey.
Memorial donations may be made to Hartsburg Fire and Rescue and will be accepted
at the funeral home.
