[May 18, 2016]   LINCOLN - The Logan County Board and Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois (CAPCIL) announce a new update to the Logan Mason Public Transportation (LMPT) program. Beginning Monday May 16, 2016 public transportation buses will begin operating on a regular route and schedule from 7:30 a.m. and ending at 5:15 p.m. in Lincoln. This type of route schedule is known as a deviated fixed route.

A deviated fixed route is one where buses pick up and drop off riders at predetermined bus stops, but offers riders the opportunity to call in and make arrangements for the bus to pick up/drop off 2 blocks off of the established route. This allows individuals who are unable to make it to the predetermined spot to still be able to utilize LMPT. If an individual would need the bus to deviate off of the established route they would need to call CAPCIL 24 hours prior to time of pick up. Due to the deviation, scheduled pick up times could vary slightly.

Riders are able to board/depart at any of the locations on the schedule. Riders must be prepared to pay the fare with exact cash upon boarding as drivers do not carry change. Fare rates are as follows:

Adult $3.00

Child 6-12 years old (escort required): $1.50

Children under age 5: Free

Seniors (60+):$2.50 suggested donation

The new deviated fixed route will be stopping at the following locations in the order that follows: CAPCIL, Logan County Health Department, Lincoln Depot, IGA, Friendship Manor, Lincoln Park District Recreation Center, Precision Products, Centennial Courts, Lincoln Christian University, Anytime Fitness, Lincoln College, the Oasis Senior Center, Cracker Barrel, Walmart, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, and CAPCIL. Printed bus schedules are available as well as online and mobile access. If you would like to view the route online, visit the CAPCIL website at www.capcil.info/transportation department.html

All buses are equipped for ADA accessibility. The new deviated fixed route is very convenient for those who utilize public transportation to go to work, shop, or attend medical appointments. For current schedule updates, information, or to schedule a deviation to the route please call LMPT at 1-866-930-8212. If you have any questions in regards to the new program you may contact CAPCIL's Transportation Director, DiAnne Turner at 217-732-2159 ext 242, or you may contact the Logan County Board at (217) 732-6400.
